Description
Coronado Brewing Company - Coronado Brewpub.
When we opened the doors to our beach town brewpub on Coronado Island in 1996. We wanted it to be the kind of place where friends could enjoy great beer. We wanted them to enjoy a good meal and a laid-back atmosphere.
Our award-winning beer is now available coast to coast. But the spirit of our family-owned brewery hasn’t changed. We’re still sharing our passion for craft and celebrating our authentic coastal vibe–all inspired by our San Diego roots.
Coronado Brewing Company - Coronado Brewpub. Stay coastal.
21 YEARS OF BREWING
1996 – Art of Brewing
Brothers Ron and Rick Chapman realized a long-time dream and got ahead of the craft brew curve in a big way. They opened a brewpub in the heart of their hometown of Coronado on Aug. 30th. Pioneers of craft brewing, they found themselves in an industry of 1 of 5 in San Diego at that time. They worked with an original brewing system of 10-bbl brewhouse, (3) 10-bbl fermenters and (3) 10-bbl serving tanks.
1998 – Local Beer in Demand
Local retail interest for CBC beers begins to surface & kick starts the beginning of our distribution efforts. 1st keg of Coronado Golden sold to Hotel Del Coronado.
2004 – The Bottling Begins
Started bottling on a Meheen bottling line purchased from Mud Shark Brewing Co. out of Lake Havasu, AZ. First beers bottled: Coronado Golden, Mermaid’s Red, Islander IPA & Point Loma Porter.
2006 – The First Expansion
Expanded sq. footage of the Coronado brew pub and increased brewing capacity. Added (13) 20bbl fermenters pushing annual capacity between 4-5,000 bbl.
2012 – Mainland Brewhouse
Expanded production capacity with a 30-bbl brewhouse and new bottling in a 22k square ft. building on the mainland in San Diego’s Tecolote Canyon area. Knoxville production facility would eventually provide enough space for an overall annual capacity of 60k barrels.
2014 – World Recognition
CBC receives the title of ’World Beer Cup Champion Best Mid-Sized Brewery & Brewmaster’. They also received along a gold medal for its ‘Islander IPA.’ Brewhouse expansion continues with the addition of four 240-bbl fermenting tanks to meet the distribution demands of 22 states and 6 countries. Coronado opens up a third location in the southernmost beach city of Imperial Beach, CA.
2016 – Celebrating Twenty Years of Brewing
After 20 years of brewing award winning beers, Coronado releases its can lineup which will mark the beginning of their new branding. Brewing is still their middle name, but Coronado wants you to Stay Coastal.
