Jasper St. James to officiate Valentine’s Day weddings at market

San Antonians will have the chance to celebrate all types of love and even tie the knot at a special event happening on the most romantic day of the year. A “love” edition of a late-night vendor market will give couples, friends, and even individual residents a chance to profess their love.

The Moonlight Love Market on Valentine’s Day will be a slight variation from the usual Moonlight Market, which launched in 2022 and is aimed at providing locals with an adults-only vendor market. The event, scheduled for Valentine’s Day, is a collaboration between SA Local Market and Jasper St. James of the Sexology Institute. St. James, manager of the institute and a revered burlesque performer of the Pastie Pops, tells MySA that the market first asked him if he would do a burlesque show at one of the events – and then asked him to marry people at the event.

In addition to two burlesque performances, St. James will also officiate wedding ceremonies during the romantic Moonlight Love Market. One performance will be more traditional (translation: sultry) burlesque while the other will follow his own personal style, which is more comedic.

“Definitely giving you both sides: the romantic, sensual side, and then the funny, strong, bad b*tch side,” he says.

While he’s glad to officiate weddings between couples, the performer and wedding officiant is happy to celebrate all kinds of love. Whether it be between couples, friends, or individuals (yes, you can marry yourself), St. James says there will be three wedding ceremonies throughout the event, each with their own message.
