The Boulevard

Dear Friends, The Boulevard has been a part of "our" GAY community since 1979. We have involved ourselves in post Stonewall activities and politics. We were there when the AIDS epidemic broke taking many of our loved ones with it. It brought an unknown horror and fear to us all. We stood together and did what ever we could to help or ease the pain of those effected directly or indirectly by the horrific disease. We marched or supported the yearly Aids walk.

The original owners of The Boulevard, along with employees and caring customers/friends, started an incredible organization at the bar to do all we could to help which remained an effective, important tool to help those in our community through the height of the epidemic. We have walked or supported "Aids Walk LA" and have volunteered or supported all of the "Pride" festivals which choose to include us or asked us for help.

The Boulevard, marched tirelessly in protest of Prop. 8. We have supported and given to Gay Alcoholics, meetings, Drug rehabs, held fund raisers for aids, the stroke foundation, cystic fibrosis, breast cancer, sponsored teams with the LA pool league, softball teams and many other community organizations.

Given performers/artists/musicians opportunities to gain experience and progress their creative and professional talents even incurring large financial losses at times. Times have changed. Times are much better. It's what we always wanted. The struggle is not over by any means. There is more work to be done. Whether we offer a venue that suits you, or is your type of "gay" bar you can feel assured, that you do not have to question our commitment to our community nor to the "basic" rights of all gay people everywhere!!
